H. Paul Cooper is an independent visual journalist whose preferred projects focus on documenting moments that reveal the innate goodness of the human soul and the beauty of human diversity. Paul also provides journalistic event and portrait photography to individuals for personal non-commercial use. His professional affiliations include the National Press Photographers Association and the American Sociological Association. He subscribes to the National Press Photographers Association Ethics Code.

Paul's transition from a career in social science and medical education survey research began while employed in academia. His academic work provided valuable opportunities to develop visual communication skills creating photo-illustrations for educational materials, photo documentation of research projects, event photography of educational conferences, and editorial photography for online publications.
